wednesday:

two other interns from the other centre joined us at YC today! :D heee so nice to have more ppl going crazy with us :P had a briefing for the GP camp in the morning and that was like an entire 1hr+ of mind-grilling planning out the stuff and laughing our abs out cos, they're all just crazy!! hahahah. love interning with this bunch :) we have crazy nus interns, crazy ntu interns, and even crazy staff lol. makes the tiring planning process much more fun and enjoyable! and keeps ur abs firm too :P

played a few rounds of table soccer and air hockey with the youths when the centre opened and it was hilarious!! i swear its super funny to see the guys playing SO GENTLY when they're against the girls compared to when its all guys. its so gentle i cant take it. "eh 温柔一点" was wad one of the guys said to his friend when playing table soccer against this other girl and i and the game was sooo peaceful its just, un-tablesoccer-ish hahaha. same goes for air hockey. turns out we girls're more "violent" than them cos they were just hitting so softly and we just kept laughing cos we're so not used to that after watching them playing literally AIR hockey (where the puck flies outta the table half of the time) when its all guys lol. but gd tt they know how to adjust their strength accordingly lah huh :P if not, even standing at the side and watching them play can be "life threatening"....

and im so happy i learned how to play new songs on the guitar!! :D just anyhow-strumming but its so fun when everyone just sing-and-play tgt :D yay i love my internship!! hahahaha XD


thursday:

reported in comfy tees and shorts and off we go recce-ing for the camp! :D trying out routes from admiralty to sembawang under the blazing hot sun is no joke mannn. we're all sunburned at the end of the day! t-shirt and shorts tannlines are horribleeeeee >.< but we had lotsa fun! it was like a mini OBS camp.. trying out different stations, walking a lot a lot, resting at kopitiams for short breaks, trying out low-element obstacles that trained our arm muscles ttm, doing lotsa jump shots, laughing ard as usual, taking lol photos at the beach.... hahahaa fun fun! XD really hope it'll all be gd during the camp itself :))

back to YC after tt and celebrated bdays for the jan-may babies! think its quite a gd idea cos some of them had nv celebrated their birthdays before. hope they all liked it! :D

some phone-calling in the office after that which confirmed that this group of us is completely not cut out for office work lols. all super flustered and like "omg what do i say??" whenever the phone rings and "eh who i call ar??" when our list of contacts were kinda messed up lol. but still, had lotsa fun laughing ard the whole day!! love my fellow interns and staff~~~ :D :D

and i cant believe 3rd week just passed!! SO FAST!!! only 7 weeks lefttttt :(




alright so tts just a brief update on the past 2 days before they're erased from my very short-term memory. and happy vesak day everyone!! :D long weekend's finally here~ gonna meet up with my cousin and niece and nephew at the temple later! cant wait to see the two 小瓜s~~~ XD and i cant wait to see my darling later toooo!! XD XD


its been an interesting morning for some of us interns today. for the free-thinkers (like yours truly), prophecying is probably sth we'll seldom come across.

im really glad that for our attachment, we get exposure to different people, and now, even different "realms of spirituality".

my first experience with prophecying was... emotional. not that i wanted it to be but, knowing that there is someone who knows what u're feeling deep inside beneath all ur smiles and laughters, really meant a lot to me at this point in time. he made verbalizing those feelings seem so easy (although i'd prefer not having them verbalized in a room full of ppl haha :P but its ok). and its even more amazing when u've nv met that person before, and would probably nv meet him again.

and just in case u're wondering,
no i didnt cry in front of everybody.
nothing bad happened, and i am not traumatized or tragically upset.

in fact, im really fine now.

its just that sometimes, emotions can become overwhelming and feelings can get so complex that u can almost describe them as u dont know what u're feeling. its kind of like 'sad', but its not. its kind of like 'confused', but its not exactly that either. u know what i mean? things happen to us everyday, and especially in this line, many things can make us reflect a lot or even trigger emotional reactions when u link them back to ur own life. and u have other things happening outside of work, and it adds on to the pile, so at the end of the day, u have this whole stack of feelings inside that are un-processed and jumbled up and as the days go by, they accumulate and can start to feel suffocating.

and that, is why emotional regulation is important.

i admit it hadnt been the best week for me, emotionally. ups and downs, but more downs. tried to put down those negative thoughts ytd, and im glad today i managed to get back my cheerful, energetic self again. no more moodiness and dark clouds :) yay kudos to myself! :P

and through all the self-reflections that i made, i hope to really become a better person. cheers to better days ahead :)

mornings always seem to pass very quickly with chit-chats, discussions, devotions, etc. yeah kinda slack but i suppose its REALLY just for first week... yup we're cherishing it a lot :P

and a surprise came in the noon when one of the youths came in and just handed me a bag containing 3 ice popsicles and told me its for us! it was really like, wow, thanks! :D only got to know this youth ytd, and was just casually commenting tt "is the 冰棒 that nice?? u all everyday eat wont sian one meh??" and we get this little treat the next day. although they were just inexpensive ice popsicles, the gesture really made our day :) yay!

home visit in the afternoon was another meaningful and enlightening experience. once again, many reflections post-experience, but i think at the end of the day, they are still very meaningful and are the real eye-openers for me. the world that i know has expanded yet again, and im happy to be able to learn more about the case at a deeper level. sometimes, u really need to experience sth directly to feel the learning, and not just read abt it or hear abt it from others. im glad i had this chance today :)

and its definitely nice to be interacting with one of the staff on a more personal level and getting to know a colleague better :) cant wait to know the rest too!

yup first week of work and it seems like a million thoughts generated in my mind already. its been tiring, but rewarding too. and im quite sure that applies for all of us :) may week 2 be awesome too! cheers! XD

tired tired! but i still wanna blog about fulfilling-today :))

good and bad that we (the interns) were unable to attend the morning event with the rest of staff cos of insufficient places. so thats one "experience" less, but we had the morning off! :D yay got to slp more :P

and so after lunch was just mainly interaction with the youths after the centre opened. its still exam period so study sessions still~ and its great that today's session was much more productive than ytd's! :) tried a new arrangement of the tables so that mini study grps can be formed, and it worked quite well. its been real long since i "tutored" anyone abt anything, and revising maths with one of the girls was really nice :)
(and on a more personal level, picking up the guitar again felt real good. i miss music a whole tonneeee >.<)

what was best about today was seeing the learning process of those seemingly "deviant" youths, what encouragement from us can do for them, how simply giving them "ticks" for answering the questions correctly can motivate them, how our attention towards them individually makes them feel. like what chris (one of the staff) said, these youths rarely get encouragement like these, rarely get "ticks" in the work that they do, rarely get praised, and they even feel safe being at the centre. the place where we work is kind of like an after-school haven for many of them, and being able to see for myself what this bunch of kids are able to do, unlike what the public thinks of them, is really heartwarming. and im glad to be a part of this culture and this identity that we all share. its truly a rewarding line, and im amazed that im already starting to feel the contentment from this on just the 3rd day of work :) looking forward to tmr and home visit on friday! :D hoping we'll get to go for prison visit soon tooo~~ wahaha excitingggg! XD

back-to-vivo for me and had lunch at tajimaya again! super-duper filling lunch we had~ so meaty, no vegetables. i hope i wont get constipation =x

there was this bridal fashion show at vivo too and oh mannn the gowns are so pretty!!! *goes wild* nice until i suddenly feel like getting married too HAHA im just kidding lah :P but the gowns really look so nice!! even the 伴娘 ones, which were sth like mini dresses unlike the full bridal gowns. can one of my frens get married and ask me be 伴娘 too so i can wear tt??? :D

ok enough of my craziness haha. got tired after walking ard for a while [i seriously think im getting oldddd] so took a nap after returning home~ one last nap before i start another chapter tomorrow...

hadnt woken up at 630am for godknowshowlong and i swear its "exciting" waking up early to go for a consecutive series of talks.. *insert yawn* but i guess they're quite informative? at least not a huge waste of my time (unlike the stupid "IMPORTANT" and COMPULSORY talk we went all the back to ntu for -.-) and the speakers were humourous and interesting too! :) if only that mr foo was my real lecturer~~ hahaha. would totally love his lessons! and knowing what forensic psychology really is abt helped too :) hopefully tmr's talk will be as gd too! :))

on a slightly lighter note, when u see ur fren wearing the same color as u, u might say its '默契'. when u see a second fren also wearing the same color, 'its woahh coincidence!'. a third one comes along, and its "omg this is getting freaky". and when the final number is SIX donning the same color, u'll seriously start to doubt whether its even qualified as "simple coincidence" lol. psychies united desu!!!!

and i was off to meet dearest for dinner! :D woohooo ramen was really goood~!! goes super well with very-empty stomachs too ;) hahaha credits to peiwen's recommendation! found one of the best places for ramen and the best thing is ITS NOT EXPENSIVE. 13bucks is quite reasonable for a good bowl of ramen i guess? and it super yummy~~ just a little bit 腻 towards the end of the meal but its really considered gd le. am gonna try their tonkusen tonshio ramen nxt time i go there! mr lee pls dont strike this restaurant off the list tooo!! :P:P

headed down to the exhibition with mel ytd and woots its quite gd! :) superb for cartoon/animation lovers cos there're SO many drawings inside that are colorful, impressive, simple, sophisticated, complex... however u can describe them! some really can just make u look at them in awe~ and it definitely brings back a lot of memories when u look at animations from some time back, like Cars, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles.... makes me wanna movie-marathon them all over again! XD hahaha. quite an impressive exhibition i'd say :)) kudos to pixar for their work all these years!






(if u're wondering why there're so little, we're not allowed to take pics inside. so these are the few from outside :P)

roamed around science centre a bit before entering the exhibition and it does feel kinda educating :P its like we're back to those primary school days and were there on excursion [omg this term haha]! and indeed, the trip around science centre was insightful. here's the most important take-home message that i got from science centre:

headed to vivo after that for Bounty Hunter! quite a gd show even though i was a little lost about the storyline at some parts haha :P but its ok cos u didnt need to know the complete story to enjoy the actions and it was really quite funny too! those colorful pyjamas ars just SUPER LOL!! hahaha the thought of it still makes me laugh :P

and somehow, even though its been a gd 12hours spent tgt, it still doesnt seem enough. why why!! lol. it was really nice visiting vivo again after our first time out with each other at this same place some time back :) and i absolutely love the level 3 balcony area! hearts to breezes, peace, and love~ :))
