someone slap me for still blogging and uploading photos when i shld be rushing an essay due in 3days' time >.<

rawrs! super duper tiring day today can! well, its been a tiring week lah so its kinda accumulated from monday but still.... *zombified* headed to sch for my dear 1.5hrs of jap lesson, rushed off to shuqun sec for data collection from 2-5pm, and then finally back home..

okay actually it doesnt sound like a lot of things but i swear im furiggin drained from everything!!! yes its a sign of aging i know. but its really been real long since i felt soooo tired even when im bathing! its like every single action required dunohowmany kilojoules of energy.... (is that even the unit that energy is measured in?? aiyah. shui bian lah.)

the 3 hrs of data collection werent as busy as we expected, but it was nvtheless tiring having to translate the entireeeee survey for most of the parents =/ the first parent i translated for was, "ok quite interesting doing translation." second one, "oh mann is the survey ending soon." third one, "........." and subsequently u'll just wish parents wont come anymore :D each survey took abt 40mins i guess. nv thought translation would be so tiring.. but thankfully there were refreshments that were painstakingly prepared for us by our dear prof!!!! :D:D:D

i feel happy when im well-fed. im serious. especially when there're like HOMEMADE SANDWICHES in the cooler waiting for u to consume them, plus extra butter cookies, nonya kuehs, bananas, grapes, coke, mineral water.... omgggg chalet can!!! hahaha. really nice of joyce (my fyp prof) to prepare all the sandwiches for us! and can choose somemore!! got cheese, tuna mayonnaise (SLURPS), and smoked salmon!!!! tian ah how xing fu is this mann!! and the best thing is? they taste superb!!!!! especially with the fresh lettuce and tomatoes inside that crunch when u bite into the sandwich! zomgggg her partner is like SUPER fortunate can. lols. one of the assistants was saying she wldnt mind paying $5 to buy a sandwich from her everyday~ i wldnt mind too loh! :P really damn good. yum yum.

and so we thought the sandwiches could compensate us for the tiring hours we spent there :)

until joyce suggested that we meet up soon to discuss the introduction of our report.... :(:(:(:(

dont u SENSE more work coming in alr??? oh mann. data analysis, report writing... EXAMS....... *shudders*

ok i will do my essay fast so i got more time to slp before more things roll in. bless me!

1:04 AM

its nv nice to admit it.
but,
im really not good enough.
:(

i can try my best, but what if at the end, i still dont deliver the results, i still disappoint ppl, and i waste their time and efforts?

thinking abt it makes me feel kinda awful again but i dont have much time to sink into "depression" and worse still, let myself stay in tt state.. too many things to do, and really too little time. need to move on, need to continue working..

and its 28th Oct already.
happy 7th monthsary my dear :)

crazy schedules and deadlines so we wont be celebrating today.. but still, its another happy milestone we've reached tgt once again :) may there be another beautiful month to look forward to~

Sunday, October 24, 2010 ♥ 11:11 PM

many many things happened within a short frame of time again.
feeling somewhat overwhelmed but, >.<
i will survive.

recess week is gone like this!! i didnt really feel it :(
happy for those who went for an overseas trip during this wk!! hope the break was really a nice one for u guys~~
for many of those whom i know, recess wk was almost non-existent~~ lol.

mine was packed with fyp data collections, band pracs, ktv session, more band pracs, and a 10km run that ended off my short holiday.
not exactly the kind of "break" i wanted but... arghhh sometimes life just sucks >.<

but nike run was not bad! :D
im proud to say i finished 10km and survived!!!! *triumphant* lols.
i thk its the first time in my life that i ran 5km without stopping (continued the rest of the distance alternating btwn jogging and walking) so its like a lifetime achievement already! and i never knew 100plus tasted so damn awesome when u're so tired from running!! hahahah. i love water points XD

but anyhoooo, nike run was a success for us! :D gina, peiwen, melvin, and me! :D had breakfast at marina sq yoshinoya after tt and it was back home to study sleep~~ tiring day indeed!! muscles starting to ache now. i think my legs will break tmr >.<

okok. must aim for next achievement now that 10km is over.
i shall aim to finish one set of notes tonight and faster slp!!!!

my eyes are totally closing can -.-

but before i end....!!

:D
thanks for being with me through everything!! :))

wouldnt have achieved 10km so happily without u beside me! thanks for being there through all the trainings (although der werent a lottt of training runs but those few still count!), for accomodating to my tortoise pace, for pushing me on to continue running when i just wanted to walk all the way alr (:P), and for finishing my first ever marathon with me~ :D ur presence makes a huuuuuge difference dear! thank youuu :):)

many loves!

hahahaha this is quite a hilarious and interesting read :P got it from siping who got it from fb. XD

"Singaporean Men Cannot Make It One Lah"

Singaporean girls like to use the phrase "cannot make it" to describe Singaporean men. They wrinkle their noses and act all surprised when you suggest, ever so gently, that perhaps Singaporean Male X might be a suitable mate. "Huh?? Cannot make it lah, he." A few years later they marry Singaporean Male Y, who looks and sounds exactly the same as Singaporean Male X.

Why are Singaporean men all so ostensibly "cannot make it"? I do not know the answer to this question, for I am reasonable. However, I do have suggestions for the men. To become a "can make it" Singaporean male (without having to resort to plastic surgery), one must achieve a certain level of competence at the activities I shall be listing out below. Ours is a small, closed society; the traits that mark one out for worthwhile reproduction are easily and quickly discernible, if one pays proper attention.

1. Must be good at computers and computer games

Strangely, being good at computer games appears to be more impressive to the average Singaporean female. If you are good at computers only, you are taken advantage of for most part. If you are good at computer games, however, you are a badass potential protector. Compare:

You: OK, upgraded to Windows 7 already.
Girl: Thanks so much! (thinks: the software did everything.)
You: You're welcome.
Girl: Can help me install antivirus?

with

You: ALL RIGHT 25 KILLSTREAK!
Girl: Huh?
You: Nothing. I just kicked your boyfriend's ass.
Girl: Orh. (stands over shoulder and watches very fast paced game and thinks: aiyah why my boyfriend so lousy.) Can help me install Windows?
You: Sorry not interested, I am aiming for 35 killstreak
Girl: (subconsciously registers lack of punctuation as sexy) Oh. Kill kill kill ... so manly.

As a general rule, the hierarchy is such: first-person shooter, versus fighter, real-time strategy, turn-based strategy and then everything else. MMORPGs occupy a value system of their own, but in general their gentle learning curve reduce street cred. Angry Birds and Bejewelled FTW for now though.

2. Must be good at pool

There is nothing else to do in Singapore. Get good at it, you will be spending a lot of time in these places. Don't just chalk your stick - chalk some victories while you're at it. Ah-lians will be watching.

Must-learns: jump-shot, English, doubles.

3. Must be good at one team sport

So that you will look good next to the other doddering dodos. Football obviously occupies top spot, but basketball and water polo work too. Volleyball is for girls.

Girls find it easier to come down to support team sports, because they can rationalize their conduct diffusely: "I'm here for the TEAM." Let them have this. You know what they're thinking when you're ... scoring.

4. Must be good at one individual sport

While girls find it harder to support these because you are alone and therefore very bo sei for them to come all the way down, the simple fact that you are involved in some sport somewhere is already very "can make it". Walk around with your lacrosse bag slung over your shoulder or your tennis shoes carelessly dangling from your backpack. When they ask about your sport, just make vague references and knowingly use terms of art.

Girl: Where are you going?
You: Oh, practice.
Girl: What practice?
You: Kallang ... today we're doing slice serves.
Girl: *tingle down spine* Ohhh.

Few other people will be able to challenge your authority, since these are individual, recherche pursuits. Exploit the opportunity.

To avoid: ping-pong, badminton (everyone thinks they can play these)

5. Must be musical

GUITAR for individual, DRUMS in a band. Girls are quite dumb one and they like to see action jackson. You bang bang the drum, they happy. You stand around and pluck a few strings, nobody knows what you're doing. Of course, if you are going to do the serenading thing, it will be guitar without question.

Tip: When serenading, pretend to be practising (when you actually practice sui sui at home already). Always choose a current song, so people will bite. If you play More Than Words for the 238645823648243234th time, people confirm lose interest one. And don't look at anybody when singing, otherwise they will feel that you are "invading" them. Don't "invade" anybody. Just let them listen to your ostensibly unassuming music. Confirm plus guarantee plus chop will have results.

6. Must be able to do math

A guy who cannot do maths is like an eunuch. He is not a man. In Singapore especially, even our girls are damn good at maths. So you better be super damn good, so you can explain to her how to divide her parts.

One better: PHYSICS. For some reason, applied stuff is harder for girls. So take physics and ace it. Then later on, toss in puns about how you two have such great chemistry, you want to explore the geography of her biography in a physical way. "Your body is a wonderland," you will coo. "Do you want to read my literature or should we just start making history?" Just don't show her your mother tongue.

7. Must have good sense of direction

A guy who has no sense of direction is a girl. The end.

8. Must drive and must be good driver

DRIVE. And for fuck's sake, practice that parallel parking thing. Girls always tell themselves that they are not lousier drivers, just more careful/cautious/whatever. But despite that ALL OF THEM STILL CANNOT FREAKING PARALLEL PARK. Become tok kong at this, heighten the gender difference, enhance the sexual tension. Ooh yeah baby.

By the way, European marques please. The Singaporean lady does not want to be seen rolling in a Hyundai.

9. Must be laconic and listen to her drivel

Ya. It helps. Srsly.

Singaporean girls think they are really interesting, and maybe they are. Who knows? We aren't really listening. But you don't really have to - just nod every 10 seconds. And then say, "Really ah." I just did this today. It is fricking awesome. You can abidicate responsbility for having a brain.

The bottom line is that by keeping silent, you allow her to project her preferred self-image onto you. She is interesting, so therefore you must be interesting, since you are absorbing her everything. How cool is that? I love lady logic.

10. Must know DIY

"I hammered her and her friend last night, we had a good screw. Talk about nailing two in one night! Of course I bolted the next day, but I will always be ready when their pipes need further unclogging."

Euphemisms aside, you must know DIY because other penises will try to undermine you with their own DIY knowledge. Especially contractors who overcharge. If you are fleeced in any DIY-related matter, you are not a man.

This is also perhaps the origin of the phrase "cannot make it" - a man who "can make it" can make ... things. With hands and tools. He probabaly also knows how to instruct the girl on how to rectify a swollen ball-cock.

11. Must speak dialect

My biggest regret, I cannot speak dialect. In lup-sup KTVs and Warrant Officer messes, I am the lowest of the low. With contractors, I am a freaking pony with "Kan Me" on my forehead. Why is dialect so important for the Singaporean male? Primarily, it establishes street cred. Denizens from below must look up to you before any female will find you worth apprising. Importantly, also, dialect is crass; crassness establishes contrast, and in contrast we find admiration.

12. Must not be below PES B

Or at least finish normal BMT like everyone else. Nobody really knows whether OCS or SISPEC is tougher, so you can elide that easily.

If you had a buay gan army life, try not to talk about it at all. Girls know one. They all have "a friend" who was a commando-officer-parakeet. They will compare you like they compare their Prada bag with the other girl's Miu Miu. Don't become an object!

If you were a star in the army, also don't talk too much about it. Girls just want to know that you were good, and that you were not a jellyfish. The rest is still for you to prove - funny, rich, smart etc. Prove it.

13. Must have "ambition" and "passion"

Most Singaporean girls have a vague notion that their man should be "successful" or aim for success of some sort. For themselves, they have less concrete ambitions. Use this to your advantage. However, only hint (not talk) about your plans. For instance:

Girl: So, what's next for you?
You: I've had several offers ... well, we'll just see where it goes. I have a pretty clear idea of what I want though.
Girl: What's that?
You: Haha, it will bore you. Let's not talk about me. Do you like baby blue or pink?

Once they know you have "plans", they will stick with you, regardless of what those "plans" are. Make sure you always have "an idea" of what you are going to do. When in doubt, obfuscate and pass off a successful person's life as your own.

14. Must say nearly every other girl is "cannot make it"

This is by far the MOST IMPORTANT ITEM on the list. Singaporean girls like a guy who has "standards". Secretly, the standard for every girl is HERSELF. This is not a cardinal scale, there is no relativity. Instead, on this mystery scale there is THE GIRL IN QUESTION, and then EVERY OTHER FEMALE ON EARTH. She will make cursory concessions for Angelina Jolie and Megan Fox (the latter usually grudgingly), of course, but DO NOT BE FOOLED. She just wants you to think that SHE is the prettiest and THAT IS IT!!!

If, however, you are unable to lie barefacedly, you might want to go with a less extreme approach. You must say that girls SHE LIKES AS PEOPLE are pretty. NEVER SAY THAT PRETTY GIRLS ARE PRETTY! Girls are unable to divorce looks from personality. It would be unwise to do so, therefore, in their presence. A good sample discussion would run as follows:

Girl: Do you think Girl X (ugly but liked) is pretty?
You: Yes, she has a certain je ne sais quoi that I find charming.
Girl: (pleased) Really ah? I think so too! Not like that Girl Y (pretty but disliked).
You: Oh, Girl Y. Cannot make it lah. Act cute buay cute.
Girl: (ready to give you blowjob liao) I ALSO SAY!

Have you ever noticed that girls thought pretty by other girls are really not pretty at all? And hot, sexy girls are almost always labelled "sluts", as if that were a bad thing? Important hint: Do not address the girl on these points. She does not want to confront her inner evolutionary demons.

Well, that's the list. A tall order? Yes, but a worthwhile endeavour, if we are not to lose all our women to the cast of The Last Airbender. We can make it one.

Monday, October 11, 2010 ♥ 11:29 PM

sometimes, i get too focused on the negatives in my life, too focused on the bad feelings that i have, on what's making me sad, what didnt make my day, that i forget abt the good things that also happened during the rest of my waking hours.

today i shall make it a point to note the happy things down.
:]

woke up feeling the usual sluggishness on monday mornings, dragged myself to sch for jap class and adolescents lecture, and had a fun time doing up the video for our presentation :) my group's doing on gangs, and we were gonna make a video regarding that. only 5 of us in the grp, so each of us was assigned a different ah lian role lol. 1st time acting for a video and acting as an ah lian was quite fun hahaha :P quite a few takes for each scene cos we kept 笑场-ing or forgetting half our lines :P but all was done in the end and we finished the filming in one day! took us like 5 hrs in total for the filming and travelling to different places for different scenes. hopefully the edited video will turn out okay! :D enjoyed today's filming a lot. it was tiring running abt here and der, but it was fun acting out too. now we know being an actor really isnt easy~ and im happy to work with my fun-loving bunch of psychies too :))

yup so that was the 5 happy hours i had today :) shall hope for more tmr~

taken from siping's blog :)

I LOVE YOU means, I accept you for the person that you are and that I do not wish to change you into someone else. That, I do not expect perfection from you — just as you do not expect it from me. That, I will love you and stand by you even …through the worst of times. Loving you when you’re in a bad mood or too tired to do the things I want to do. Loving you when you’re down — not just when you’re fun to be with. ILOVEYOU means that, I know your deepest secrets and do not judge you for them — asking in return only that you do not judge me for mine. That, I care enough to fight for what we have and that I love enough NOT TO LET GO. Thinking of you and needing you constantly. ♥

siping: im not sure if this is a quote or u typed it all by urself. its really nice nonetheless! and thank u for posting this up too. sometimes we just dont have the words ourselves to describe things, and need such quotes to help us express what we feel. this one absolutely speaks for me :)

Saturday, October 02, 2010 ♥ 1:14 AM

happy children's day everyone!!! :D:D

i believe everyone still has this child at heart~~ and how i wish i can still officially celebrate this day and receive chocs or sweets or sth! but i kinda still unofficially celebrate so i guess im fine with it lah hehe :P

another beezee week!!

long day on mon as usual cos lessons (supposedly) end at 830pm but so far, i've been leaving during break time so tt makes my mondays all end ard 645pm :D its still a target for me to stay for a full lecture but i shall really see how. usually i'll be dying to go home ard 330, or feel super hungry by 630pm so.... we'll see, we'll see :)

went back to my admiralty attachment place (YC) on tues evening to attend the commissioning ceremony! :D the event is probably nth much to the general public but to us at YC, we know how significant this ceremony can be to the youths and to their families :) feels gd to be seeing the youths again and feeling all their energy, and it feels even better to see them continuing in areas like emcee-ing and video-taking! not sure if its really a "legacy" left behind by YC Nite that time but, i feel really happy to see that the youths are continuing the "journey" from there and not just ending things when the event ended. i guess this is one of the satisfactions that we interns get :):) and of cos, happy to meet up with my fellow interns and staff tooo!!! we went crazy reminiscing our crazy 10weeks tgt and attempted to damage papa's ear drums again on the car ride back hahaha. but i guess he doesnt really mind tt once in a while :P:P love my interns!!

another long day with band til 10+pm on wed, and thurs it was the ntu public service networking event! :):) finally~~~ the day of formal wear and listening to talks and talking to potential employers... and eating quite yummy food :P hahaha ok i know the food's just a bonus. but i thk the event's quite fruitful! :) got to know more abt the benefits of working in the public sector, positions available that're related to psychology (esp at my beloved mcys lol), and also heard some interesting stories that the reps shared with us :) have yet to read up on the brochures i "collected" though.. hopefully i'll have time over the weekend! >.< but im glad i went for the event. informative indeed :))

and its weekends again! the semester is zooming by soooo quickly that recess week is coming in 2 wks' time which means that HALF THE SEM IS OVER !!!!

terrible news i tell u.

i dont feel like i've understood indepth-ly abt the stuff im takinggg :( during lect its like mmm interesting story! laughters here and there, understand understand, den i go home and keep the notes away and, yeah they kinda stay there. textbooks and articles are read but still..... i duno. its this weird feeling that i hadnt studied since sem started and it feels BAD =x suddenly i wish i have mid terms BUT ITS OK i thk i'll take that sentence back :P aiyah. i guess i'll study properly sooner or later. at least im clearing my readings now! :D:D

ok its sleep time. intensive band pracs starting already for the upcoming concert on 31st Oct at nanyang auditorium tickets selling at $8 if interested do let me know :D hahaha ok im off to bed. nightos!
